General Dentistry

General dentistry is the branch of treatments that addresses the connection between oral health and overall health. At Torrado Dental in Rochester, NY, Dr. Eduardo Torrado and his team strive to help patients of all ages achieve healthy smiles that contribute to improved quality of life. Our goal is to detect any developing issues as early as possible, to help patients avoid the time, money and stress of extensive treatment.

Root Canal Therapy

We perform a root canal when a patient has a cavity or infection that has reached the nerve of the tooth – a root canal is a method of saving the tooth so that it doesn’t need extraction. After the infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is disinfected to eliminate bacteria, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling. Root canals are a more comfortable procedure than most patients expect, and they provide relief from severe tooth pain.

TMJ Treatment

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction refers to a disorder in the joints that connect the jaw to the skull. It can cause jaw popping or clicking when speaking and chewing, and can also result in headaches and shoulder and neck pain. It is often caused by teeth grinding or clenching. Dr. Torrado can determine the cause of your TMJ trouble and determine a treatment that works for you. One of the most popular treatments is a custom night guard that helps prevent teeth grinding. Or, the cause might be a misaligned bite, which can be improved with a restoration.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Sleep apnea is a condition in which one stops breathing for short periods of time during sleep. It can cause fatigue, irritability, morning headaches, memory trouble, high blood pressure, and other health issues. If a sleep study has determined that you have sleep apnea, Dr. Torrado can create an oral appliance for you to wear at night that pushes the jaw forward, opening the airways so you can breathe easier.
